Dine in the 509

Where to go? What to do? What keeps us in the 509?

The Elk Public House

Last week, I asked my co-worker if he liked The Elk because I was wanting to try it out.  He laughed and told me to look at his Facebook status, which was about having a dream about The Elk’s pasta salad and how he had been craving it since 4 am.  Turns out he does like the The Elk!

The Elk was on my boyfriend and I’s list of places to try.  We both really like Browne’s Addition and after a pricey and gourmet dinner at Italia Trattoria, we went for a something a little bit different.  He’s a beer, meat, and sports, lots of sports, guy.  What better way to spend a Sunday night than trying out The Elk Public House?  It is a fun, bustling neighborhood place full of locals enjoying a good beer, sunshine (on the patio- if you’re lucky!), sports watching, and a hearty meal.  The food is simple and delicious.  These normally dishes have their own twist on them making them unique to The Elk.

I got the:

SANTE FE CHICKEN- A 5oz. Pan seared chicken breast topped with roasted poblano peppers, and melted Monterey jack cheese.  Served on a grilled bun with honey cream cheese, mayo, lettuce and red onion. $9.50 (With a side of roasted corn pasta salad)

While Sean went with the:

PORK BURRITA- Shredded, seasoned pork and mozzarella cheese stuffed into a flour tortilla then smothered in enchilada sauce.  Topped with iceberg lettuce, green salsa and served with Mexican style rancho beans and dirty brown rice. $11.50

We were both really happy with our choices, although he felt like he was on an episode of Man versus Food.  The Elk appeals to anyone and everyone.  If you are looking for a casual, good meal in a fun, but relaxed atmosphere, do not hesitate to go over to Browne’s Addition, enjoy a beer in the sun, and get a delicious meal at a great price!

See the post below to see what we did after dinner! It was a perfect Spokane summer evening!

Until next time,

Molly
